SB 98's Impact
This bill will have major negative implications because it is placing women in a dangerous position. As previously mentioned, in particular low income poor women are already at a disadvantage with little access for health care and furthermore Georgia's decision to not include an exception for incest, rape, impairments to the mothers health, or fetal anomalies is placing Georgia on the extreme end of these bans.
21 other states have enacted similar legislation to restrict coverage for abortions in their exchanges:
Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
Florida
Idaho
Indiana
Kansas
Louisiana
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Utah
Virginia
Wisconsin
The only difference with Georgia's law is that as previously mentioned rape or incest/life endangerment verbiage is not introduced in the bill.
